Ho- Ho- How to Improve Your Home for the Holidays - 5 Helpful Tips to Keep Everyone Comfortable and Safe.

Congratulations… you’ve made it! The end of the year and the holiday season have officially – and finally – arrived. While 2020 may be drastically different from years past, homeowners throughout Florida and here on the Suncoast will still be hosting holiday parties (though probably smaller or more distanced than normal), cooking, cleaning and decorating. Yes, it is a time of cheer – and chaos. With so many tasks on your to-do list, it can be easy to forget about your home’s HVAC system.

We know, it may be the last thing on your mind now…

But, but here in Florida – even in winter – a neglected and faulty A/C system can put a cease to your celebration. When spending time in the kitchen, wrapping gifts, decking the halls and entertaining guests this holiday, you want your home to be as comfortable – and clean – as possible.

And we’re glad to help.

Here at Badger Bob’s, Service is Who We Are. So, we thought we’d pitch in and put together a few helpful tips to help improve your home for the holidays:

1. Let it show, let it show, let it show – Don’t cover your thermostat

With the holiday spirit in the air, it’s easy to get carried away decorating your home – even covering your thermostat. Don’t! These Christmas adornments can cause your device to misread your home temperature, impeding your system from functioning properly and causing discomfort for you and your guests.

2. It’s in the plan – Lower the temperature

Holiday parties are a great way to spend time with family and friends – even if you have to socially distance. And nothing brings people together like food. When cooking for a holiday gathering, your oven is likely to be in constant use – which will also heat up your home. If the weather during your soiree is calling for a hot day, plan ahead by setting the A/C a little cooler before guests arrive. Your unit won’t have to play catchup to keep you comfortable once things are in full swing.

3. Dust? You Must!

Many people don’t realize that dusting can improve the efficiency of your heating and cooling system. The more you dust, the less dust particles will travel through your home’s ductwork and spread throughout your home – which will also improve your air quality (more on that below). Be sure to remove any dust blocking you’re A/C registers and returns!

4. Fa la la la la, la la la FILTER! – Change your air filter

It wouldn’t be a Badger Blog without us telling you to change the filter. Yes, it’s that important. Dirty and clogged filters can cause airflow issues, high energy costs and even system failure. Be sure to replace your air filter this holiday season to achieve better indoor air quality and big savings on your bill.

5. Put Badger Bob’s on your invite list

If it’s been a while, you’ll want a Badger to visit. If you haven’t already scheduled an inspection, we recommend doing so before the chaos and craziness of the holidays is upon us. HVAC system maintenance can catch minor issues before they become major problems and give you peace of mind when you’re entertaining or traveling.
