Happy 2022 - Now, Let’s Make Your Yearly A/C Care Plan

3… 2 … 1… Happy New Year! It’s the start of 2022, which means many people are searching for some New Year’s resolutions and those good-for-you goals that’ll make this year the best one yet. Unfortunately, sticking to those New Year, New You plans is not entirely easy for all twelve months.

We Got You Covered

With these cooler winter temperatures, it’s easy to forget just how important your home’s cooling system is for your year-round comfort here on the Suncoast. So, while others are making self-bettering promises they may or may not keep, we think the New Year is a better time to start your yearly maintenance schedule for your cooling system. To help, here is a month-by-month breakdown on some of the simple tasks you can do to keep your A/C healthy and happy throughout 2022:

January

A fresh start to the new year should begin with a fresh filter in your A/C system. Also, go ahead and save the phone number of a trusted, professional HVAC service company in your phone in case an emergency arises during the year. We got one right here for you: 941.225.2775.

February

Temperatures are still pretty mild here on the Suncoast – maybe even a little chilly. Your cooling system won’t require much use, but you can still keep the outside components free from brush, dust and dirt.

March

Spring is about to… well, spring. Now would be a great time to schedule a maintenance visit with a trusted HVAC pro. If you do, they’ll come out and make sure everything is ready for the warmer months and more A/C usage. We recommend setting up a yearly maintenance plan, which includes another visit in six months. If you’d rather not, go ahead and change that air filter.

April

April 22 is Earth Day and a great time to think about energy efficiency. With its well-known energy consumption benefits, a programmable thermostat is the way to go.

May

If it’s been a while since you checked on your outdoor unit, take a look to make sure it’s not obstructed by dirt and debris. While you’re at it, go ahead and change that air filter.

June

Hurricane season starts this month, so be sure to prepare your cooling system. We’ve blogged about the exact steps to take before, but for a refresher: make sure it’s secured, clear up debris and be sure to check it thoroughly before turning it on after a storm.

July

Your unit is getting tons of usage. Keep it clear of obstacles and change that A/C filter!

August

The summer heat is sizzling, so you want peak air circulation in your home. Make sure your A/C vents are clean, fully opened and unobstructed. Ceiling fans will also help move the cool air.

September

If you scheduled your first A/C maintenance visit back in March, you’re due for the second yearly check-up. If not, change that air filter!

October

October is Indoor Air Quality Month. If you’re unsure about the quality of the air circulating through your home, look into having a REME HALO® whole home air purifying system installed. REME HALO reaches every cubic inch of the air-conditioned space, killing 99% of viruses and removing pollen, dust, dander, particulates, microbials, gases, MRSA, E. coli – as well as sneeze germs within 3 feet of their source.

November

Cooler air is on the way… but you still need to change that air filter!

December

With cooler temperatures, you may start using the heat on your HVAC. If you notice a burning smell, don’t worry. It’s normal.
