You can help.

In the spirit of New Year’s Eve, here is a countdown for 5 ways you can resolve to be better to your air conditioner this year and optimize your home comfort:

5. Get with the program.

If you don’t already have a programmable thermostat, consider investing in one. This technology puts you in full control over your home’s temperature. You’ll be able to set it so that you only use your A/C when you’re home and reduce your use while you’re out of the house. This will mean less used energy, which means lower bills. Installation is relatively easy, as the wiring is the same as for regular thermostats.

4. Learn the signs.

The quicker you can recognize signs that your HVAC system needs repairs, the sooner you can get the system repaired and restore your home comfort efficiency. Do a little research on the most common indicators for a failing air conditioner – you can reference those here. If you see the signs, contact us. Your comfort is just a call away!

3. Keep trim.

With spring comes growth… of bushes, shrubs, branches, tall grass and any other foliage that may be sprouting near your outside A/C unit. You want to keep a two-foot clearing around your air conditioner. This keeps the system free of blockages and also allows for a clear path for your HVAC technician when he or she needs to tune-up or repair the system.

2. Filter fresh.

Checking and replacing the air filter is something that every homeowner should do to maintain efficiency and keep their system running smoothly. A clogged filter can negatively impact your indoor air quality, restrict airflow within your home, increase energy costs, and cause unnecessary wear and tear to your system. On average, your HVAC filter should be changed every three months. If you smoke or have pets, however, it should be changed more often.

1. Maintenance time.

No matter how old your HVAC system is, an annual maintenance check-up can keep it running smoothly and extend its lifespan. Do yourself (and your unit) a favor and have our HVAC service contractors take care of it. During the maintenance visit, your technician will make sure your system is clean and lubricated while also checking for any repair needs.
